Education, an uphill task for the tribals of Udumanparai
For children of the Kaadar community in the Western Ghats, getting an education means leaving home at the age of six to stay at residential schools.
Writes extensively on poverty, displacement, women and children in conflict with law, education and disability. Recipient of the SAWM-UNICEF media initiative 2017. Was awarded the IIJNM award for excellence in print journalism for a story on the education of tribal children in Valparai, Coimbatore.
Worked as a Reporter for The New Indian Express, Chennai (2014-16) and then as a Reporter for The Hindu, Chennai (2016-18). Currently working as a Senior Correspondent for The Times of India in Chennai.
